The Token Protest

Details: Villa Park City Councilmember Deborah Pauly recently threatened violence against fellow Americans at a Rally outside a fundraiser. Let's attend the Villa Park City Council meeting and let her know that she doesn't speak for the people of Villa Park, or Orange County (and that her comments help empower the same extremists that threaten all of us). Here is the simple message for Councilwoman Pauly (feel free to use the following if you agree in your own letters/spoken comments).

Councilwoman Pauly, you recently chose to associate yourself with protest organizers who engage in hateful vitriolic speech that reflects poorly upon the good people of the City of Villa Park which you represent by being a member of the City Council. Unfortunately, because of your comments and those of your fellow protesters, a true opportunity was lost to condemn hateful speech from Abdel Malik (a buffoon who spoke at the dinner but who DOES NOT represent American Muslims). You don't win the war of ideas by stooping to the level of your adversary. Unfortunately your comments about sending in Marines to harm families, or those of your fellow protesters are so reckless that they cast a poor light on Orange County and the City of Villa Park. Your comments now show up on a world stage and endanger US National Security by becoming propaganda to be used by extremists, and closer to home they create divisions that weaken the same civic character you seek to represent in your capacity.

If you share a goal of condemning extremism in all its forms we can and should work together.
